Sharing some of our colleagues' travel and service experiences with you.
Liew Lai Ying, Team Leader, Corporate Travel
How long have you been working with UOB Travel?
I have been with the company for almost 26 years.
What has been your most satisfying moment at UOB Travel or what’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Over these years, I have seen many happy and loyal clients who continued to entrust their travel requirements to us year in year out. There are some who left but returned to UOB after experiencing the UOB service difference and missed the professionalism and friendliness of our staff. The job satisfaction from a happy customer is truly rewarding.
Share with us one of your best travel experience? Any travel tips?
I have experienced many great trips but sometimes, it’s the little things that make the difference. Several years back at Lyon, at the railway station, I was waiting for my husband to help me carry the luggage up a long flight of steps. Suddenly, out of the blue, an elderly French man in his early 70’s gamely picked my luggage and carried it up for me. This shows how helpful the locals can be.
What’s the highlight of your career or achievement with UOB Travel?
To be appointed as a team lead for 12 staff servicing a key multinational account for 14 years. Till today, some of the secretaries are still in touch with me and we have the occasional catch up over dinner.
What keeps you motivated?
Having a great bunch of working colleagues and needless to say, planning for my next holiday destination.
Being one of the longest service member of UOB Travel, what’s the biggest change that you’ve seen/experience in the past years?
The travel industry has seen tremendous changes and competition and through good management and a united team, UOB Travel has taken head-on these changes to be one of the leading market leaders in corporate travel and the Leisure travel space.
How many countries have you been to?
I have been to many parts of Europe including United Kingdom, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein and France. Closer home, I have been to India and Thailand.
Where are you travelling next?
I am looking forward to my 2 weeks family holiday to Seoul, Busan and Jeju in South Korea this September.
